On August 23, Li Zhanshu, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, conducted a site inspection on the construction and development of the industrial park of Shenghong Petrochemical and listened to the work report of Miao Hangen, Chairman of Shenghong Holding Group, during the inspection and investigation in Lianyungang.

He was accompanied by Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and Xiang Xuelong, Secretary of the Lianyungang Municipal Party Committee in the investigation.

Chairman Li commented on Shenghong with "grand plan and huge potential"

Chairman Miao Hangen gave a detailed report to Chairman Li in the central control room of Sailboat Petrochemical, including the course of struggle of Shenghong Group for opening up the entire high end industrial chain from printing & dyeing and chemical fiber to petrochemical, refining and chemicals based on the industry and innovation orientation, and its specific development plans for high end petrochemical industries such as new materials and specialty chemicals. Chairman Li said that Shenghong had ambitious development plans and great development potential, and expected it to further plan the industrial layout in a scientific way and build internationally competitive industrial clusters and product systems based on market demands and under the strategic orientation of "accelerating the formation of a new development pattern with domestic cycle as the mainstay and mutual promotion of domestic and international cycles" proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping.

Chairman Li Zhanshu encouraged Shenghong to "continue to make the industrial chain bigger and stronger"

During the investigation, Chairman Miao Hangen focused his report on the progress of major projects of the Group such as the 16 million t/y refining and chemical integration project and various measures for ensuring stability in employment, financial operations, foreign trade, foreign investment, domestic investment and expectations and ensuring security in job, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy security, stable industrial and supply chains and the normal functioning of primary level governments. Chairman Li was very pleased after hearing the positive actions of Shenghong on project planning and construction and on ensuring stability in investment, employment and industrial and supply chains. He pointed out that the enterprise must actively develop downstream high end industries and continue to expand and strengthen the industrial chain and help stabilize the industrial and supply chains while building benchmark projects in the petrochemical industry and expanding the scale of upstream basic industries.

Chairman Li spoke highly of Shenghong upon learning that it had been officially included in the list of "Global 500" recently, ranking 455th. He indicated that as a private enterprise, Shenghong took the initiative and acted proactively under the severe economic conditions at home and abroad, not only achieving the growth of economic and social benefits, but also entering the ranks of the world's top 500, which was very difficult.

Chairman Li "gave a like" to Shenghong with "well done in safety and environmental protection"

During the visit, Chairman Miao Hangen gave a special report to Chairman Li on the work of Shenghong Group regarding safety and environmental protection and its specific measures for the planning and construction of the green petrochemical industry with world class standards, continuous increase in green investment and all round construction of a green production system, as well as its earnest fulfillment of its responsibility for green development as an industry benchmark enterprise.

After listening to the report of Chairman Miao Hangen, Chairman Li fully affirmed the development concept of "green development and ecological enterprise" of Shenghong with these words, and believed that the enterprise had a strong sense of responsibility and had taken practical and effective environmental protection measures. He emphasized that enterprises must strengthen their risk awareness and carry out the whole process management of safety assessment, environmental monitoring and risk control during project construction and production & operation so as to achieve the organic unification of safety, environmental protection and benefits and should make due contributions to building a beautiful China with forever green mountains, green flows and fresh air.
